We’re the Continuing Professional Development in Education society at the University of Strathclyde. It’s a new society that is founded and ran by students across cohorts on the four year B.Ed. (Hons) Primary Education course. It is a cross-sector and career stage society for those curious about learning and teaching and the wider issues and context of education. It offers an open-space and opportunities to collaborate and discuss learning and teaching practices, approaches to personal and professional development, and wider educational issues with teachers at all stages, advisors, academics and all those involved in working with children and young people. Really, we aim to offer opportunities for meaningful, contextualised, relevant and practical based professional development as well as opportunities for networking and collaboration across sectors. But, the whole point of what we do is to get more teaching students involved with CPD and the society. So we’d love for you to join us!
By being a part of the society, you personally have the unique opportunities of developing new knowledge, skills and attitudes to do with learning, teaching and the wider issues in education. It offers opportunities to get to know other student teachers, practicing professionals and many others from different areas within education within an informal, social environment. But best of all, it will give you the chance to learn about, try out and critique different examples of practice across the curriculum – contributing to your bank of resources and ideas for your next placement!
The society has a set of aims that underpin all the work that we do. These are:

We hope to host at least one event every two months, involving collaboration between students, staff, the wider community and industry. At each, our goal is to have as many innovative, interesting experiences and speakers to make it a purposeful, lively and engaging opportunity for all.
